Running Effective Board Meetings & Staff Meetings

Planning an Effective Meeting

For a meeting to be effective, it's important to pick a goal or goals, set a reasonable agenda, and allot the correct amount of time. Brainstorming and impromptu meetings need less structure, but still require a plan.

Who is Needed at a Staff Meeting

The most critical part of planning an effective meeting, and the one aspect that is most often neglected, is making a careful choice about who to include in the meeting, and who is not needed at this meeting.

Running a Meeting

You need to establish your agenda immediately, and take charge of the flow of the meeting. If things get out of hand, you need to refocus the energy back to solving the problem on your agenda.
